TWO GUYS, THREE DRAMS: THE ULTIMATE LIVE BLUES AND WHISKY EXPERIENCE

⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars)

This is a show like no other. An exhilarating combination of blues and whisky, with the music provided by  the Rhythm and Booze Project.  These two guys are Felipe Schrieberg on slide guitar and Paul Archibald on percussion. Paul does some amazing work on washboard, and it was not so surprising when a thimble came rolling our way.
The very distinctive aspect of the event is the inclusion of three drams of very fine whisky. Felipe is our instructor in how best to appreciate these precious liquids. As we queue to enter the space, we can see a mass of glasses with whisky in them across from us….. nose and palate get working before we even enter.
Felipe tells us about the first dram as it comes round, tells us its particular qualities and where it is from. He also tells us what the words single malt whisky signify in some detail. As we go on, he gives those of us who may not be great whisky experts much information on each dram and the making of it, how best to sniff and to savour it.
Felipe and Paul play numerous well known numbers, with great verve and dynamism,  and we are encouraged to join in at some points. Feet get tapping and hands clapping. The show is over all too soon, and we go out into an unseasonally cool Edinburgh feeling very comfortably warm inside. We have had two kinds of fine pleasure, from the music and the whisky. Plus we have had the enthusiastic and warmly entertaining introductions and info from Felipe and Paul.
The is an original and unique fringe event. It is great fun and instructive. There were not many spare seats the night I went – best get your tickets quickly.
